Gresignac is in the Perigord region of South West France – a paradise for everyone who enjoys beautiful countryside and good food and wine!
Visit the local markets! There are markets on most days in nearby towns and villages but the Friday morning market in Riberac is perhaps the best known throughout the region. It’s is a great place to buy local produce – everything from local wines and cheeses to foie gras and fresh fish, fruit and vegetables. In the autumn you can find walnuts and freshly gathered mushrooms!
Gresignac is a great place from which to explore vineyards. There are wonderful wine growing regions on your door step. Discover the Bergerac, St Emilion and Bordeaux vineyards and you won’t be disappointed! Visit the nearby Cognac region or if you want travel a little further, try the vineyards further south – Cahors for example.
Within a short radius there are marvellous towns and villages, such as Brantome (the" Venice of Perigord"), Perigueux or Bourdeilles - rich in history with stunning architecture. Longer day trips can take you to the famous old towns of Sarlat and Rocamadour.
For children, there are several places nearby for safe swimming. La Jemaye has a swimming lake set amongst acres of trees and at nearby Aubeterre children can play and swim safely at a river beach. You can hire canoes or play tennis or basketball and there are bikes, boules, badminton, a football table and table tennis for your use at both La Petite Maison and La Grande Maison.
For a longer outing visit Futuroscope near Poitiers - an astonishing futuristic theme park, with a wealth of attractions that kids will love.
Above all, make sure you take advantage of the local restaurants, including Ferme Gendron - a ferme auberge within the hamlet itself. There are many great places to eat in the surrounding towns and villages – everything from small bars and cafes with fixed price menus to grand restaurants where you can expect a truly gastronomic experience!
